One person, one app
No team, no investors, no roadmap meetings. Just Sparky, built and maintained by one developer.
Hi, I'm Russell Ong
I design and build Sparky end to end: the app, the habit and Energy system, and this site. I write from what I learn shipping it, not from secondhand research.
I built Sparky because every screen-time app I tried was either a hard lockout I resented within a week, or a soft limit with an "ignore" button I tapped on reflex. Neither one lasted. Sparky is the version I actually kept installed: small habits earn Energy, Energy opens the apps I gated, and stopping early banks the minutes I did not use.
Everything on this site, the app itself, the articles, the design, is one person's work. If something is wrong, unclear, or missing, email me and I will actually read it.
Why this matters for what you read here
Every article on this blog is written by me, from what I learn actually building and using Sparky, not assembled from other people's roundups. Where I cite a statistic or a study, it links to the real source. Where I compare Sparky to another app, I say where the other app wins.
